#INKBOOK REVIEW UPDATE#
UPDATE - Inkubook's software now allows for customizable layouts.
#INKBOOK REVIEW FULL#
The templates cannot be altered - making the software most similar to companies such as Snapfish and Shutterfly (in contrast to companies that allow for full customization of layouts such as Picaboo and Mixbook for example). The software offers approximately 250 templates. The notes remain as handwritten ink, but can be searched.
#INKBOOK REVIEW PC#
The software works on both PC and Mac (but not PowerPC Macs). Write notes by hand with inkBook 2 using tablet and InkWell handwriting recognition technology. Inkubook's book building tools are online, but using the software does require a download of a free program called Microsoft Silverlight. The company is associated with Author Solutions - which is "the world's leading self-publisher (publishing 1 of every 17 books)" according to Inkubook's site. Inkubook was founded in 2008, and is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. An email was sent out in advance to those who signed up for an account, but to my knowledge unfortunately old books can no longer be accessed. I was planning on reviewing it until I reviewed the InkBook Lumos, which turned out to be so disappointing that I decided it wasn’t worth the time to review the Explore.PLEASE NOTE: INKUBOOK (a/k/a SnapMyLife Creations) is now closed. The InkBook Explore was released last fall. The 10.3-inch InkBook Infinity that they were planning to release has seemingly been scrapped-the web page they were using to promote it no longer exists. Their software is majorly outdated and so is their hardware.
InkBook ereaders aren’t very popular at all, at least not in the US. Perhaps they are clearing out remaining stock and just want to get rid of it. InkBook’s own website lists the InkBook Explore as out of stock, and it’s listed as unavailable from other Amazon websites. But for $139 some might be willing to accept those negative qualities.Īll of the other 7.8-inch ereaders on the market are priced at $200 and up so the fact that they’re selling the Explore for only $139 seems kind of fishy.
#INKBOOK REVIEW ANDROID#
That sounds pretty good until you get to the fact that it runs Android 4.4.2 and has a single core 1GHz processor.
